Zombies
Because of my usual Saturday routine
Of chores, cappuccinos and catch-up
I forgot Brighton’s annual zombie walk
Missed the sight of the living dead
As they staggered scarily bearing ghoulish grins
Towards the shopping centre and the sea
Then I realised that on any given weekend
I could wander down to the precinct
And join my own procession of zombies
All attracted to the heat and the light and the bodies and the bargains
And all so bloody determined
To get our pound of flesh
