Poem For Christine
Cherry blossom swirls along the pavement
Seagulls soar in a cloudless sky
And a wild wind chases the sea around the shore.
But even if you were here
You wouldn't notice
Because your father’s gone
And the world stops
And the world goes on.
I walk the streets of Brighton
Nursing a heavy heart and coffee in a paper cup
Recalling the numbness that death brings
And wanting to tell you that it passes.
But even if you were here
You wouldn't listen
Because your father’s gone
And the world stops
And the world goes on
