Julie Milton was born in London and moved to Brighton after hearing that there was a Starbucks on the high street. Intoxicated and seduced (but never at the same time) by the city’s creative energy, architecture, beach life and local Waitrose, single girl Julie immediately immersed herself in Brighton’s rock ’n’ roll lifestyle of cappuccinos and catch-ups, open mic sessions, wild parties and fun in the sun. Just to keep it real, however, she commutes to London five days a week and goes shopping for halogen light bulbs in Robert Dyas. Although her travels have taken her to the Seychelles, Las Vegas, Venice, Paris and Ipswich, Julie is still hopelessly attracted to and inspired by Brighton, and much of her work focuses on the city and the sea. |

After taking her photographs, Julie transfers the images to computer, where she experiments with saturation and colour levels to produce unusual images of everyday subjects.
Self-taught and still learning, Julie has exhibited her work at the Claremont Hotel in Hove and has been a guest artist in three Artists’ Open House venues (held every May/December in Brighton and the surrounding areas) where her photographs have proved very popular with the public.
Aside from her photography, Julie takes part in Brighton Poetry Society’s open mic night every month at the Sanctuary Cafe, Brighton, where a captivated (or should that be captive?) audience listens to her poems, then claps politely. She will also be starting a regular blog on this website, entitled Just Jules, in which she’ll be writing about life, love and the universe (well, maybe not too much about the universe until she brushes up on her astronomy).
